Cookie banner check
Under Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, storing or accessing information on a user's device generally requires consent unless it is strictly necessary. Germany implements this in § 25 TDDDG.

What we measure
We load your page in a fresh browser without clicking anything and record every network request and every cookie. You see whether Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, LinkedIn and other tools are active before consent.
We also check whether a banner appears and whether it offers reject next to accept on the same layer.
Why reject on the first layer matters
In the report of the EDPB Cookie Banner Taskforce of 18 January 2023, a vast majority of supervisory authorities considered it an infringement when a layer with an accept button offers no way to refuse.
Google Consent Mode
When Consent Mode is set to denied before consent, Google sets no cookies but still receives requests. We list these cases separately and with lower severity, because their assessment is disputed.
