What we see most often with web agencies
- Themes and site builders with missing focus outlines and weak contrast
- Sliders and accordions that do not work with the keyboard
- Consent tools that are installed correctly but do not block every script
- New issues after updates that nobody notices
- No record of what was checked and fixed
Does the accessibility law apply to you?
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) covers, among other things, e-commerce services offered to consumers. Each EU country has its own implementing law, scope details and authority; in Germany it is the BFSG. Micro-enterprises providing services are usually exempt. Check your case with a lawyer in your country.
Separately, in the EU, storing or reading information on a visitor's device, for example with tracking cookies, generally requires prior consent (Art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive). CheckEAA checks both in one scan, and it also clicks reject in your cookie banner to see what still loads afterwards.
Our tip
The Agency plan monitors up to 25 websites every week and emails you as soon as an update introduces new issues.
